Product Configurator can help your business through your Quoting process, Sales Order product selection and customizing, or at the Job creation stage. If your product allows for any customizing at all, Glockenturn can help you build Product Configuration solutions. We would be happy to coordinate meetings with Sales, Engineering, and Management to map out your product and its available customization selections. We typically map this out in an Excel format so that everyone can “hit the ground running” as usually everyone is familiar with Excel. Glockenturn helps lead your team in building a comprehensive map for all of the possible selections and configurations of your product.

A Comprehensive Approach

Let’s look at some specific examples of Epicor® BPMs we have created, and how they can help you run a more effective business:

  • Purchase order entry: A purchase order entry Epicor® BPM can require that any employee creating a new purchase order must input a due date or other critical information before saving. This ensures all information entered into the system is accurate and easy to locate for auditing purposes.

  • Customer shipment entry: A customer shipment entry BPM can automatically send an email or text to the customer when their purchase has been marked in the system as “shipped.” This keeps the customer informed, improving overall satisfaction and reducing the number of incoming requests for information to your help department.

  • Quote entry: A quote entry BPM can automatically display inventory information when a sales representative searches for a part. This helps your team provide better, more accurate service to valued customers, and lets them know when a surplus will allow them to offer a lower price.

  • Attachment changes: In Epicor® 10, a BPM is often the best way to make mass data changes. A recent PracticalTek customer found that, after changing their server name, existing attachments no longer worked. We created a BPM that searched through all records to find and change fields containing the old server name considerable time and effort.

Crystal Reports has the ability to pull data from multiple sources to create cohesive, accurate reports. Getting it to work seamlessly with Epicor® often requires modifying an existing template or creating a new business activity query (BAQ) — both processes which can be time consuming, or which may involve extensive trial and error that many small businesses don’t have the resources for.

That’s where PracticalTek comes in. We have extensive experience generating Crystal Reports with Epicor® and have a large archive of templates that can be modified to meet your needs. Some of the thousands of custom Epicor® reports we’ve created in the past have included:

  • Shipping reports that let you know who bought what, where it was sent and how it got there in a given week, month, quarter or other specified period of time

  • Detailed work-in-progress and jobs-in-progress reports that clearly show what you have ongoing, what’s overdue and which team members are available to take on additional work, among other things

  • Supplier delivery performance reports that identify which of your partners has been most effective at meeting their promises, and which have a history of unreliability

  • Part lead time reports, which make planning easier by showing you what’s in stock and what needs to be sent away for
